Top Ten Reasons for Students

to Attend UBC

10.  You need to plug into a church.  You need to be involved in a local church body while you're at school.  You need to be involved with people of various ages.  You need to be forced to compromise because people from different generations have different opinions.  The Body of Christ is supposed to be multi-faceted and this time in a local church will prepare you for your future involvement in church.

9.  We need you!   Having students here breathes life into our congregation.  God is doing some incredible things among us and it's hard for us to keep up with the demands of all the new people God is bringing.  When we have students come in and help us serve it takes the burden off some of our congregation and allows them to get fed instead of getting overworked.

8.  You can have a great impact on other students  We are just a couple of miles from Wright State University and there are many college students there that need to know Christ.  As you can imagine, having college students reach out to other college students is much more successful than having "older folks" trying to reach out to them.  Our hope is to have a bunch of students who will go over on a specific day and play Ultimate Frisbee with Wright State students to attempt to build witnessing relationships.

7.  Adopt-a-Student program.  UBC has an Adopt-a-Student program where different families from our church will adopt you so that you have a family right here close to school.  Our church families love to spoil our students just like your real moms and dads do.  They will have you over for meals, bring you snacks/groceries throughout the semester, pray for you daily, and involve you in the family life.  Come and let us be your home away from hom.

6.  You can do hands-on ministry here.  Our desire is to give you the opportunity to put what you are learning through God's Word into action in the Body of Christ.  You need to be obedient to God to use the spiritual gifts He has given you and we have several opportunities to do that here!

5.  We are passionate about missions.  We take Acts 1:8 quite literally and we have adopted ministry partners locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.  We support and serve a church plant in Beavercreek, a food/clothing shelter in downtown Dayton, a ministry supporting the poorest people in the U.S. called the Appalachian Regional Ministry, and we are partnering with a seminary in West Africa.  If you care about missions, you will be on the same page with us.

4.  You can join a team of other students leading this church.  We currently have our worship and our youth ministry led in large part by Cedarville students.  Zach Santmier, who is one of the Cedarville chapel band leaders, leads worship here each Sunday (as well as other students who make up the band).  And Abel Sutherland, another Cedarville student, helps to lead our Youth Ministry.  We would love to have other college students leading in areas such as the Children/Nursery, Drama, Sound/Lighting/Media, etc.

3.  Expository Preaching.  Each week at UBC you will hear a message directly from God's Word.  Our Pastor is intentional about preaching through books of the Bible in a relevant, humorous, and practical way.  You will enjoy our Pastor's down-to-earth style and his humor as he engages the sometimes difficult truths in God's Word in an uncompromising way.

2.  Free ride to Church.  If you want to come to UBC each week we will get you here.  We will have a Cedarville van (or two) that we can use to transport students each week, and we are close enough to give rides from Wright State as well.  If you need a ride, just let us know and we'll come get you.

1.  God is very obviously at work among us.  Over the past several years the church faced some difficult times and had averaged about 50 people for a few years, but within the past year God has blessed the church tremendously.  We are currently running around 200 people and just started a second worship service.  Come be a part of the awesome things that God is doing among us.
